Eggs For Breakfast

Well, its december now and I am starting to get into the Christmas spirit! A little too early to put up the tree but I figured I would do something nice for my little one today.

Above are my festive eggs! No culinary skill needed!

My non-stick cookie cutters however.. were a let down and a nightmare to wash off afterwards no next time they will be greased prior

Very simple… heat a pan, crack in the eggs and viola! Fini!

Evie loved them!

Recipe Books

Hi all! Just a quick one to show you these... I've been meaning to find a good way of storing my recipes as I have so many magazine cut outs and printed sheets lying around the place.

I found this material online ages ago and couldn't think what to do with it but finally decided on a decent project. Something I can keep for myself for once as it makes me sad when I finish some fabric and have kept nothing back for myself.

So one of these is for a friend and the other myself do I will be busy at some point filling it :)

Skull Beads

Been making these little skull beads this week following my obsession with Mexican Sugar Skulls. Im not entirely sure what I will do with them yet but Im thinking earrings.

They are made with polymer clay which you bake in the oven. These pictured are yet to be baked and once they are I am going to paint them :)

Felt sushi

Ive made these little felt california rolls for Evie to play with. She is still a little bit young to be using chopsticks but I think its a good way for her to be introduced to new foods and learn about how different countries use cutlery etc. Its also a great way for her to practice hand and eye coordination.

They are really simple to make as well :)

Crochet Goodies

Ok, so I didn't actually make these :)
I ordered them from etsy because I think they are the cutest little things and I just really wanted to have them. Im not even sure what I am going to do with them yet but Im thinking children's headbands and dress embellishments

Jubilee Stamp

This little piece I made to celebrate the queens jubilee this year. Im not overly patriotic but I love how Britain pulls together for such events and feels like one united country. Living in France I felt I was missing out a little to I decided to make a little something to put on my wall so that Im in a little way involved.

Ive hand sewn it although once I was done I decided that glueing the fabric ridged would have probably worked best so that the fabric didn't tread out. i think Im going to make another one just to see if my hunch is correct but for now Im pretty happy with this and it looks lovely on my wall.

I like to look at it while Im drinking my tea in the morning :)

Crafty Family

My aunty plum (as we call her) is my mothers best friend. She is the most amazing, creative person and I thought I would spare a minute to show you what she has given me and also one of her paintings.

She's an artist by trade and a vert eccentric one at that. She experiments with all forms of creativity from papier mache to painting.

She's had many exhibitions over the years and will be having another one soon show casing her new projects which are fairies... slightly mad and drunk looking ones at that hahaha!

Also wanted to show you the mouse that my God mother knitted for Evies first Birthday. Its delicate and Evie is quite boisterous so I won't let her have it until she is older, which suites me fine because he looks great sat in my tea set cupboard :)

Baby Amelie's Gifts

This is a project that I just finished off for a friend of mine who has just had a baby. Instead of going and buying things I thought a home made touch was a lot nicer.

I made Evie a baby blanket out of old scraps of material I had lying around. It took me six months to complete by hand and she loves it. I don't have the time or patience to do another by hand and my mother in law bought me a sewing machine so projects get completed a lot faster.

The longest part of this project was cutting out the fabric. I decided on a very simple design for the blanket as to be honest its been an experiment using the machine.

The bib is made with toweling and is perhaps a little bit too pretty to be used as a bib as they just get ruined but I think that every mother wants pretty things for their child and why not, they are so precious :)

Tutorial for the bib to come :)

Doodles and seedlings

Baby Evie
Been another busy week garden wise. Most of the seeds and sprouted and grown vigorously on my window sill. Sadly we have had a lot of wind so going out into the garden has been a bit of a nightmare and Ive been unable to plant anything out creating quite the back log.

I put out two of my baby melons to see if they could handle the temp but sadly the didn't like it and have wilted their beautiful new leaves. Thankfully all was not lost as they are still alive and back on the sill to be nursed back to health.

Im adding a few pics of sketches Ive been doing while stuck inside and also the start of one of my new quilts. The sketches are by no means great but as this is a blog about what I have been doing and little inspirational bits then I figured they should be included somewhere.

Ive been starting quite a few quilting projects actually now that the sewing machine is back up and running. I will post some pics in the next few days.

For the scrap book

My parents recently moved back to the UK and mum left with me all the scrap books she made for me as a baby. Im doing the same for Evie and thought that little ink feet would look great.

I also want to do something with them to put on the awl but so far Ive had no inspiration.

My New Quilting Project

I noticed its been a while since Ive put up a crafty post so here it is.

Evies 14 months old now and we have very generous family ad friends let alone myself who loves to shop so we have a years worth of beautiful girlie clothes that no longer fit. Some of them are so precious that i have boxed them up in case we have a second little girl one day but that still leaves me with a good few boxes. Stained ones to the bin or made into rags, uninteresting ones to the red cross and the pretty ones Im making into a single bed sized blanket for Evie when she's older.

Heres what I have started so far. A fair way to go yet but I have a sewing machine now instead of doing it by hand so things are a lot quicker than before although I must say I prefer the look of hand sewed ones.

Trinket Walnuts

I didnt get an engagment ring in mine unfortunatly, in fact I didt get one at all. I stumbles accross this by complete accident actually. Last year I made a bowl of gold painted nuts for my christmas table and then packed them away for the next year. Upon opening them up for our christmas just been they had all split open. Great! This gave me the idea to put a little something inside as a secret treat. I wrote a simple 'I love you' on a note, put it inside and left it on my partners pillow. True he thought I was odd putting a painted nut on his pillow for him especially as he doesnt like nuts but when he realised it opend he was over joyed. He now keeps it next to him on his desk while hes working.

Its just a little something cute to say I love you...

My little Cupcake...

When given advice on what to buy for a newborn I was told that you could never have enough plain white baby grows. I bought soooooo many. Almost all of Evies other clothes are too fancy for a normal stay at home day so I save them for special occasions, but this leaves me with a dilema... how boring are those plain white babygrows!!! So... I  have set about making them cuter, more personal and fun. This is my first one, for my little cupcake...

Buttons Buttons Buttons!!!

Amazing!!!! My mother-in-laws button collection!

There is a really old beautiful wooden sewing box in one of the corridors in my partners parents house that I happened to look in for some pink thread when I came across an old box full of buttons. All kinds. Just the kind of thing I love. She has kindly said that I can help myself to them which has got my imagination running. Now all I need to do is decide what to make with these little treasures...

Royce the Bear

This isnt one of my creations but I wanted to share it with you as it is something I have decided to try out myself. This is Royce, he was a gift from my mum to Evie for her birhday. Her first teddy bear. The jumper was made by my God mother (God granny to Evie) Isnt it lovely! Because Evie is English/French she incorperated the french and english flags on the sleeves. Sooooo cute!

I have never knited before and its something  really want to try. Do you think you can learn from a book or website? Im going to give it a try...

Evies Quilt

Finally, I started making this when I was pregnant but have only just completed it as there wasn't enough hours in the day to sow for personal projects.
I'm so Happy, it turned out just the way that I wanted. It doesn't smell of me enough for Evie to like it right now so I'm planning to sleep with it a couple of nights and then she will love it!!!

Quilting is so easy and a real pleasure. I find it very therapeutic. I'm actually making three other quilts as we speak. I figure they will make the perfect baby shower/birthday or Christmas gift.
